WorkFit provides seafarer medicals in Roodepoort, Johannesburg, offering SAMSA approved (ENG1 equivalent) fitness to work certificates as an approved provider for multiple cruise lines. We also conduct OEUK offshore medicals and SAUHMA Class 1 diver medicals, completed in accordance with the latest guideline updates. Every assessment is personally conducted by the examining doctor, with required special investigations such as chest x ray, audiometry, lung function testing, and blood tests completed in a single visit where applicable.

Sea

Cruise Liner Fitness Assessments

Cruise-line and merchant-fleet seafarer medicals completed on the employer's required specific forms. WorkFit carries out pre-employment and periodic fitness assessments for crew working at sea, with the examination and required investigations coordinated at one Johannesburg practice. Where your employer or cruise line has its own medical paperwork or testing requirements, the assessment is completed against those specific requirements.

Dive

Commercial diving medicals

Commercial diving medicals are examined by a SAUHMA registered Class 1 commercial diving physician. Fitness-to-dive assessments include the clinical examination and the lung function, audiometric, exercise and imaging investigations required for certification, including surface-supplied and saturation work. Divers travelling from Johannesburg or elsewhere in Gauteng can complete the core assessment and required on-site investigations through one practice.

Yacht

Yacht crew medicals

Yacht crew medicals include SAMSA fitness assessments (ENG1 equivalent) for seafarers working on private and charter yachts. Assessments are completed against SAMSA requirements and the relevant international ILO/IMO standards, with vision, hearing and other required checks carried out as part of the visit. This service is suitable for yacht crew who need medical fitness certification before joining or returning to a vessel.

Offshore

OEUK offshore medicals

OEUK offshore medicals assess fitness to work offshore in UK controlled waters against current Offshore Energies UK guidance, Medical Fitness for Offshore Work, Issue 8.1, published February 2026. The assessment was formerly known as the OGUK or UKOOA medical. WorkFit also works with operator-specific medical protocols for oil, gas and renewable-energy personnel, giving offshore workers in Johannesburg access to an OEUK approved examiner and the required supporting investigations.
